Cancer Care Northwest has licensed therapists on staff to help you and your family cope with the emotional, spiritual and social challenges which accompany the diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
With nearly 70 years of combined counseling experience, our highly skilled, compassionate counseling services team offers individual, marriage and family counseling, support groups and other important emotional support services.
Tess Taft, MSW, LICSW
Tess, manager of Cancer Care Northwest’sCounseling Services Department, is an oncology psychotherapist who has provided therapy to cancer patients and their loved ones in hospitals, cancer clinics, homes, nursing homes, hospice and private practice settings for 32 years.
Tess is a certified specialist in Interactive Guided Imagery. She uses this tool to help alleviate symptoms of stress, pain, grief, and to help elicit inner strength, wisdom and faith. Additionally, she uses imagery to help patients and families prepare for surgery and bone marrow transplantation. She is also committed to serving patients and families who have finished treatment and who are seeking ways to stay well and live life fully once again.
Tess holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) from The University of Washington. She is a licensed therapist and is certified as a marriage and family counselor.
Bobbi Hamilton MSW, LICSW, CDP
Bobbi joined Cancer Care Northwest’s counseling services team in 2006. She facilitates support groups, teaches techniques to help patients cope with cancer and change deep-rooted lifestyle habits, and provides individual, couples and family counseling. Bobbi also helped establish Kidz Count, a Cancer Care Northwest support group for kids whose parents have cancer.
Bobbi holds a Master in Social Work (MSW) from Eastern Washington University. She is a certified chemical dependency professional (CDP) and also has a strong background in business.
Carl Greenberg, MS, LMFT
Carl is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who joined Cancer Care Northwest’s Support Services Department in 2010. With extensive experience working and teaching in health care settings, Carl specializes in working with individuals and families affected by health care issues. This is an important distinction, because we recognize that cancer affects not only the individual with the illness, but their loved ones as well. In addition to providing counseling and guidance to patients and their families, Carl teaches and presents national workshops on the benefits of collaboration between physicians, mental health care providers and patients. Carl also teaches workshops on ethics.
Carl earned a Master’s of Science in Counseling from San Francisco State and has been certified as an Approved Supervisor and Clinical Member of The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Prior to joining Cancer Care Northwest, Carl’s work experience includes 14 years as the Behavioral Science Faculty at Family Medicine Spokane, 27 years of either full or part time private practice and a year as a clinician at a psychiatric practice.
